presently named appalachia
has across the waters atlantic
her old sisters anti-atlas.

are born with heavy voices
a song that says listen
we ain't ever known young.

Look now,
out her mouth
she replicates sound

Yeah,

’til I was in a cave so complete
I found a mother,
splitting.

So I swallowed the air
her in between,

our

all

now

ripping

and nothing
was the sound of man.
