Instructor: Bunny McKensie Mack | 3-Sessions | Friday July 18, Tuesday July 22, and Friday July 25 | 7:00-9:00 PM | 719 N Mangum St, Durham, NC

We are living in the age of technocracy, where power is mediated through algorithms, and our emotions, labor, and data are increasingly extracted for profit. But AI didn’t begin with ChatGPT, and the story of automation, surveillance, and control is much older and more human than we’ve been led to believe.

This 3-session in-person course peels back the layers of the digital world to expose the systems that shape our lives. This isn’t just a class about technology. It’s a deep dive into how labor, power, profit, and identity intersect in the age of AI. From the historical battles between Luddites and industrial capitalists to the rise of emotional manipulation on platforms like Twitter, we’ll trace the roots of today’s digital landscape. You’ll explore how "neutral" technologies often reinforce systemic inequities, and how social and racial justice movements have always been forms of technology themselves—tools for designing more liberated futures.

This course is for thinkers, builders, organizers, artists, and anyone who senses that the current tech-dominated narrative is incomplete and wants to reclaim AI literacy as a form of collective power. Join us. Let’s build fluency not just in what AI is, but in what it could be when we put people and justice at the center.

Scholarships: We are currently able to offer three full scholarships per class. Our full scholarship tier is a nonrefundable offering, limited to one per student per month.Because our scholarship funding is limited, selecting multiple full scholarships in a single month will result in disenrollment from all classes. If the scholarship tier you need is sold out please email us directly, and we will add you to a waitlist and notify you if additional scholarships become available. Please see our FAQ for more information, including installment plans and refund policy.
