This class is the third of five in our Summer Care Series.
Instructor: Victoria Bouloubasis | August 1 | 6-8 PM | Durham, NC
Food is necessary for nourishing our bodies. It can also be used as an active tool for caring for one another in the aftermath of difficult moments: after a death, after a natural disaster, after a fraught political election. We’ll read essays and watch excerpts of film to discuss how food shows up in community as an emblematic act of care.
Donations to FEED Durham (in lieu of Night School Bar) are encouraged at
go.dojiggy.io/feeddurhamnc or CashApp: $FeedDurham Venmo: @Katina-Parker
*No advanced preparation required.
Care Summer School description:
What is the relationship of study and care? At Night School Bar, we don’t want one without the other: collaborative study is how we care for ourselves and one another. And don’t we all learn best when we feel cared for?
Many of our instructors write and teach about “care,” but each from a different angle. That’s why we’ve created a series of 5 class sessions -- each taught by a different instructor and on a different topic, but “care” is the common thread. You’re welcome to participate in 1 or all 5.
Each of the 5 class sessions are FREE. We invite you to make a one-time donation to Night School Bar if you are able, available in the drop-down menu. We are 100% community funded by lifelong learners just like you and your donation helps us keep our classes accessible.

This class will take place in person in Durham. Night School requires that students refrain from attending in-person classes when sick. For more on our class policies, see our FAQ. Instructors will also follow this policy.
