This intensive will be limited to 6 participants. 22 contact hours.

You’ve drafted (almost) your entire manuscript. Congratulations! But now you need to reorganize it, fill in some missing scenes, and figure out exactly how you want the ending to work. Night School Bar will provide guidance, structure, and accountability to get you across the goal line!

Join us for a three-month revision intensive. You’ll engage with other readers who’ll bring fresh eyes to your work, and get tools to help you with structure and organization, expansion (or contraction!), internal connections, conflict, consistency, style, and endings. We’ll meet for the last weekend of the month. in June, July, and August—Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm—for a mix of workshop, directed activity, and independent revision time. The majority of revising will be done during class time. You’ll also have two optional mid-month accountability revision sessions between meetings. You’ll work from macro to micro, with feedback from both peers and instructor, as you get your book into its final shape. By the time you’re done with this revision intensive, copyediting will be the only thing left!

Both fiction and non-fiction writers are welcome. This workshop is for writers who have a full draft or nearly full draft of their manuscript completed. If you are unsure if this workshop is for you, email nightschoolbar@gmail.com to discuss.

You will submit your full manuscript one month before class begins for the instructor to read. You will submit a 5-page summary (maximum 1250 words) and 20-page excerpt (maximum 5000 words) two weeks before class begins for your peers to read. You will be expected to read your peers’ 25-page submissions before the first session.
